About this course
Overview This intensive 8-week hybrid course is designed for intermediate to upper-intermediate Afghan learners aiming for an IELTS Academic score of 7 or higher (approximately CEFR C1 level. We combine two 2-hour live online sessions per week with guided self-paced learning on our LMS. All four IELTS skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking – are covered. Instruction emphasizes test strategies, vocabulary building, and authentic practice to boost confidence and performance. Weekly full practice tests replicate exam conditions to track progress and focus learning.
Modules
Welcome to the IELTS Academic Preparation Course. This first module will help you understand how the IELTS exam works, what Band 7+ requires, and where you currently stand. You will complete a diagnostic test, learn essential listening strategies, and begin speaking practice. You will also learn how this course works, how to study effectively each week, and how to track your progress.
This module focuses on helping you understand the IELTS Academic exam and getting a clear picture of your current level. You will learn how the test is structured and what each section looks like. You will complete an initial diagnostic assessment to identify your strengths and areas for improvement. You will also begin learning basic listening strategies for Section 1 conversations and practise Speaking Part 1 with personal questions about yourself.
In this module, you will start building strong reading skills for the IELTS Academic test. You will practise skimming and scanning techniques and learn how to handle common question types such as matching headings and true, false, or not given. You will also begin Academic Writing Task 1, focusing on how to describe graphs and charts clearly, organize information logically, and summarize key data.
This module focuses on improving your listening skills with more challenging recordings, including interviews and short academic lectures. You will also practise Speaking Part 2, where you will learn how to prepare and deliver a 1 to 2 minute talk using a cue card. The focus will be on planning ideas quickly and speaking with confidence and structure.
In this module, you will work with longer reading passages under timed conditions. You will focus on understanding implied meaning, managing your time effectively, and avoiding common reading mistakes. You will also be introduced to Writing Task 2, learning how to write a clear essay with a strong introduction, clear main ideas, and appropriate linking words.
This module includes a full listening mock test completed under real exam timing. You will review your answers and learn from common mistakes. You will also practise Speaking Part 3, which involves deeper discussion questions. The focus will be on explaining opinions, giving reasons, and speaking more analytically.
This module is dedicated to improving writing accuracy and control. You will complete timed writing practice for both Task 1 and Task 2. There will be a focused grammar workshop covering complex sentences and cohesive devices. You will also complete extra reading and listening practice based on the question types you find most challenging.
In this module, you will complete a full mock test covering Listening, Reading, and Writing in one session under exam conditions. You will review your results carefully, identify patterns in your mistakes, and learn how to correct them. Speaking mock tests will also be conducted during live sessions.
The final module focuses on review and confidence building. You will revisit key strategies for all four skills, including time management and question approaches. You will complete final mock speaking tests and receive feedback. There will also be a question and answer session covering test day procedures, stress management, and final preparation tips.
